Notice that DHCP is not enabled, perhaps others could advise.
    Move along, nothing to see.

Right Click Properties on the Wireless Connection and then in frame of the window that opens, click Internet Protocol TCP\IP and then hit properties. In the window that opens up, choose obtain an address automatically for IP address and DNS servers. Click ok out of all those menus and try to get to the internet

Thanks for yr continued assistance Shermanator, I'm starting to run out of steam a bit but will certainly try yr last instruction. I'm afraid I'm out of my depth a bit when it comes to finding the various IP addresses mentioned. I did try pinging 192.168.0.254 but it timed out and just stated 4 sent 4 lost.

Tried the automatic IP address and DNS Server but again no success. All info now blank in the relevant window/s?

Just when I was about to throw in the towel thinking I'd made a complete mess of everything I tried restoring back to an earlier time today and then, after flicking thru different windows to get the some if not all of the IP and DNS info back in place I suddenly noticed internet had miracuously returned! :j
Why the problem occurred in the first place remains a mystery but thanks to all who offered help/advice - it's greatly appreciated!

Wooo Hooo :-) Got there in the end, pleased it is now working for you, take another screen dump of your ipconfig /all for future reference, it was almost certainly a network issue, possibly caused by the NIC driver update.
    See ya :-)

    Hi Shermanator,

Here's the current report which shows much more detail in place.

The first thing I noticed to show it was back on line was the yellow shield at the bottom of the screen advising of new (MS) updates so wondered whether it was these that might have caused a conflict or blocked the internet connection?

If you can shed any more light on what might have caused the problem it would be useful to know as it's almost bound to happen again at some point? I'll keep the above info on file to refer to if and when it does reoccur.

Meanwhile, many thanks for your support!
