block bidder log

Good grief.

I just had one of those begging emails asking me to reset my buyer requirements to allow them to bid. As my only real block is for serial non payers I checked my log and I have dozens and dozens of them all blocked.

I have never seen so many and they all say "Too many Unpaid Item strikes"

so to all those sellers who use the unpaid system I say a big thank you

The log is the people who have been blocked by selelr preferences. You don't get their full id, but ti shows you how many there are, what they tried to bid on and why they were blocked:

    Go here:
    1. Go to My eBay.
    2. Click the Account tab, and then click the Site Preferences link in the left navigation.
    3. Scroll to the Selling Preferences section and click the Show button next to Buyer requirements.
    4. Click the Buyer Requirements Activity Log link.

What get sme though is why do people do it? Most of my people on the log have lots of feedback, some over 1000, so why just buy something and not pay?

    I really don't get it.

I've just had a 0 FB buyer buy a high price item. Doesn't worry me to much. Anyway just checked my log and they were blocked earlier due to lack of credit card on file. It's good that they work. This same item has had numerous people attempt to buy it with 2 strikes and get blocked.

I find it quite entertaining looking at the log gives me a warm glow inside (or is that the coffee?). Ahh simple things.

slightly out of topic but not too much: the buyer blocking list.

Every now and then ebayers change their username. These changes of username affect your buyer blocking list meaning that once the username of a particular ebayer has been change he/she will be able to bid and buy from you even if he was originally on your blocking list.

To "refresh" and update your blocking list you can do the following at least once a month:

    - go to your blocking list
    - add a new or a random name and save the list. If one of the users changed username since last time you checked your list it will be flagged in red as "ID not valid".
    - copy that "invalid" username and in the ebay "Advanced Search" and run a search By Seller or By Bidder (it doesn't matter). If the username has been changed within the last 30 days you will still be able to find it and see the new username.
    - copy the new username and add it to your list.

You need to do this at least once a month otherwise you won't be able to search for obsolete usernames as ebay keeps them available for a month only.

By the way once you are there: right-click on the list, "select all" and copy&paste the names into a notepad text document. Save it on your computer, always handy.

What is it with some buyers they are doing my head in.

The one that I mentioned when I started this thread had high feedback so I told him I would add him to my OK to bid list on this one occasion and asked him to confirm which item it was that he was interested in (as he sent the same begging email on several of my items). He told me widget A but asked a question about it, I told him the item was not suitable for his purpose and he would need to buy widget B instead. He came back to me and said that he didn't like widget B but would go for widget A as he can always return it if it is unsuitable..he then made a passing comment about how lucky it was that ebay had this returns policy as I wouldn't believe how many he had had to return over the past couple of months. The problem is he wouldn't know widget A was unsuitable until he had tried, and that would leave me with an unsaleable item if it was returned.

Obviously I blocked him and even added him to my blocked bidder list just in case and am ignoring his emails.

meanwhile I had an email from another bidder , 'why can't i bid?'. Noticed they were on my blocker buyer list and checked their feedback, again good high feedback but feedback left was a nightmare, one of thos ebuyers who moaned about each and every item he had ever bought. I must have come across him somewhere and blocked him as a precaution.

I think this shows we should all be saying this mantra to ourselves ' Once blocked always blocked, Once blocked always blocked' repeat after me.....

I know and i am kicking myself. I would normally just ignore but I've dozens of this line and I just got a bit greedy I suppose.

Never again, I'll stick to my policy of never giving any buyer a second chance.
