this has heppened to me once using a wireless PDQ machine. I called up GE Money when I got home and they said that they had no record of the card being refused - it should leave a footprint on their system when a request for payment is sent through - so I put it down as a one off as it was a wireless machine.

It hasnt happened to me again so if it does happen to you then its worth giving them a call to see if they have a record of a refusal on the system.

I managed to add mine to a Paypal account but I remember that during the process it asks you to enter your first name and instead of entering 'Sunil' I had to enter 'S' (which is what appears on my card) before it accepted it.

    Regards
    Sunil

Thank you very much I just add to enter my initial of 'G' instead of 'Graham'. Its a crazy world!

    UPDATE:
Went to buy with the card using Paypal. Guess what - Card declined!!! Not a happy chap!

A few more for the decline list.
    02 topup
    Zurich Insurance
    Asda checkout (but sometimes ok)

I think the rule fo rthis card is to always carry a backup.
I'll try for a compensation call.
Is there a non-0870 number for them?

Mine was declined at Morrisons - for £14, very embarrassing - have they got a thing against supermarkets or against the supermarkets bankers?
  • Thankfully I've not had any declines with mine... yet. I only really use it maybe 2 or 3 times a month, so my exposure probably isn't enough to have it happen.

The one thing that has disappointed me with GE is the lack of online banking... after speaking to them a few months ago, they said it was coming in September... hopefully they won't be too overdue.
  • Did any of you who had the card declined ask the cashier to try again? That's worked every time in my experience, except with the notorious Asda petrol pumps.

Coming up to the end of my first month with a GE card. How reliable are they at producing a statement on the 17th of each month? Does it always happen exactly on that day or could they appear a couple of days before/after?

Just that I tend to schedule my big monthly supermarket shop for just after my statement 'rolls over', don't want two months worth on one statement!

    Thanks.

Mine have all been on 17th so far and they seem to have the same statement date for everyone. It can take a few days after that to arrive in the post. There's still no sign of an online service from them.
  • I subscribed to GE Money 5 weeks ago with a balance Xfer but to date I have had an invoice from them & a PIN but no card & I just cannot connect to their Customer Services.

I managed to connect to their 'new business' within 2 minutes but have been left holding on & then had my connection dropped a dozen times; I've written a letter to their complaints department. The only contact I've had from them is via email.

    Not happy.
  • I have the tel no 020 181 0000 listed as the no for lost or stolen ge money cards. If yours has not arrived you may want to presume it has been lost in the post.
