Grrrrrr - neutral Feedback rant
Comments
-
A few years ago (before the feedback rules changed) I got a neutral after selling a gameboy and a bundle of old games. I had tested the gameboy and a few of the games, but not all. Anyway buyer waited until the last day they could leave me feedback, and then left it saying a game didn't work - I had no idea, and they had not mentioned it in 3 months! And I wouldn't have negged them in retaliation anyway, which they were clearly worried about. After seeing feedback I immediately emailed them asking which game had the problem, and would they let me give a partial refund to make up for it - no response. Waited another week and sent a refund which should have been enough to pay for replacement game + P&P. Still no response. Ended up feeling like I'd wasted my time. It's hard trying to be a good seller when people don't give you the chance!
So no, OP, I wouldn't offer a refund again, to someone who can't be bothered to tell you there is a problem! Just leave a calm sensible follow up and chalk it up to experience.:www: :: MFi3 ::

I said maybe.
Maybe you missed the marks also?.
If she had contacted me to say there was a problem, then MAYBE I would've offered a refund - I probably would've just told her to keep it and have the refund too, it was a low cost item, and would cost more to return than she had paid. But she DIDN'T contact me, so I'm not inclined to offer her a partial now.
Maybe I did miss the marks - but I always look quite closely at my items and describe them appropriately. Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0 -
I had a neutral on my private account. I sent a feedback revision which they agreed to, but they did explain...I thought positive was if I was 'really pleased' and negative if I wasn't. So cos I was pleased it was what you said, I thought neutral meant I was in the middle.

anyone who is unreasonable with their feedback and just leaves a neutral ive had a neg where they said everything was aok!! i just add them to my blocked bidder list thereafter!0

Thanks Jumbo - I have added her to my blocked list now...!!
She didn't reply to my message, so I just left follow up to her feedback.
I just wouldn't consider leaving neutral or negative feedback for a seller if I hadn't contacted them to give them
opportunity to put things right.
Hey ho!!! Glad I'm not alone...!!!Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0 -
I had a non-payer have the gall to leave me neg but eBay said they'd breached the policy and removed it as soon as I asked. Ho hum.
It never seemed this bad when I was just a buyer - I bought a game once and it was only wrapped in flimsy paper so the case was badly cracked. Now I'd never know if that happened in transit or if it was always like that but I would have sent it in a jiffy at least if I'd been the seller. Anyway it played fine and the instructions were there so I left a pos and didn't say anything about the packaging 'cos I didn't think it was really worth getting in a tizz about. I've read some feedback recently where they care more about the packaging than what they've bought, even if there's nothing wrong with it!0 -
A few years ago I won 2 decorated mugs. The seller posted them in a large jiffy bag, no bubble wrap, nothing! Somehow amazingly only one got broken so I asked the seller for a 50% refund. They refused. I opened up a dispute with Paypal asking for a 50% refund because the item was broken due to poor packaging.
The sellers response to Paypal was "The packaging must have been OK, otherwise both mugs would have been broken"
Talk about twisted logic!
Needless to say Paypal found in my favourInstant Credit means Instant Debit!
Walking to the pub IS exercise! :beer:0 -
But neutral feedback doesn't affect your overall percentage does it, so why so upset?. I'm not being clever, just interested.
I left my first neutral last week and I didn't contact the seller first as I didn't want to enter into extensive correspondence. The delivery had been super slow, the packaging was grubby and the postage charges (compared to the single first class stamp and re-used envelope) were highly inflated.
Why should I give a positive vote if my experience is below average - surely that is what neutral is for (if not negative)? If the seller had wanted positve feedback then she should have been realistic with postage charges, posted promptly and declared the poor condition of the packing.
BTW, this is my first neutral in 5 years so I don't do this willy-nilly.:hello:0 -

I think anyone who recycles packaging materials is to be applauded, as long as it does what it's meant to do I can't understand people complaining about it. If a parcel turned up on my doorstep and the item was as described and not damaged, whilst I would be unhappy if I'd had to wait too long for it, as to what it was wrapped in I wouldn't give it a second thought."I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant." :huh:0
