don't know, but it's a nasty bit of software that is notorious for spreading both illegally-shared files AND some pretty horrendous malware - best avoided....

Limewire is crap, end of story.... nearly all the files on there are viruses anyway..

    BitLord (Torrents)
    Jdownloader (I love this)
    Google Documents

You can access both types of files with these, illegal or legal. Since I don't know what you use them for I'll assume your doing it legally. Since P2P File Sharing is not illegal in itself, it is only illegal when used for accessing copyrighted files etc and not simple file sharing...

This topic is of course not permitted on this forum, as it breaks forum rules.

However, last time I used Windows, uTorrent was the best client I could find and had all the features I needed.

I now use Vuze (previously called Azureus).

Limewire exists to provide a platform for virus and malware writers to come up with new and innovative ways to infect your pc!

Chances are, it wont work as your computers infected due to using it in the 1st place

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM QUICK SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
If anything was found then do the exact same but run a FULL scan

    reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin)

Can't find much info on asteres.exe, seems to have been around for about a year, but couldn't find any reference to av/anti malware progs picking it up as an infection. Probably safe to remove.
