CCP game, eve online crashes with vista...

Hi, ive been experiencing program crash with this game... any suggestions please? tried DEP off, firewalls off.... i think its a network problem, .
on my xp machine i sometimes have a little lag while the game sends or receives info, but on m y vista machine, it just crashes, windows gives a message saying ccp exe program stopped working and must close.

i notice this happens at peek time mostly.

It doesn't crash that often for me, maybe once a month if ever.... have you tried running the program in compatibility mode...

When it's happening, when you're exiting stations, navigating to new systems, after server maintenance. Any specific times?

I haven't checked my PC, but you could also check the CCP directory to see if there's a log. What antivirus software are you using aswell ?

i use avast and the vista fire wall.

It happens when the client requests info... market, fleet history, mail, not so much with the wallet.

Tonight, it crashing first thing, because the market window is open when i log in...

It seems to be more frequent at peek 'broadband' times, always on fridays..

Has the original issue been resolved yet. Was Eve also crashing before hand or when they released this new Tyranis patch ?

I think the issues are stemming more from the rogue programs as opposed to the game

You can try checking the event viewer for any errors that appear
    - start - run - compmgmt.msc - event viewer - application,,,

Check that one next time Eve crashes.

Actually just thought of another thing, how up to date are your graphics drivers?

If your using Nvidia, consider going to their site and let their automated program run a search for your drivers. I recently upgraded mine because my computer was crashing on the nvidia nv4_disp.dll file

Given that all the functionality within Eve itself (like changing station etc) is server side handled on their clusters, the only client side actions are going to be graphics.

If it's crashing, it's a conflicting driver used by the game, whether it be graphics dll or a game DLL. Therefore I'd also suggest checking graphics drivers, if that don't work other option would be to remove / reinstall the game.

    Few more for you.....

1 - Did you find any system event log errors?
2 - Try doing a Windows update on computer
    3 - Try running c:\program files\ccp\repair.exe

    Could be worth a shot....

Have you always used the same PC, there should be no reason for any installation issues if application has been reinstalled, but it's possible there may be some old links lurking around somewhere. I'd consider asking this on the forums for Eve aswell as there ain't many Eve players on this forum bar me and probably some others.
