So all the bills/food etc have been paid etc...
How much 'allowance' do you give yourself to spend each week/month??
What do you do with the money that you do not spend from your 'allowance'??

My "allowance" is usually maximum of £50 a week. I could live with less, and often do. What isn't used goes into my easy access savings, as I count my proper long term savings in with my bills.0

It has been £40 a week for about 3 years and its £20 at the mo so we have as much free cash for our new house as possible.
Not easy but its worth it.0 -
What sort of things do you allow for??

I use my allowance for non-essentials like books, dvds, eating out etc. Pretty much just for the fun things in life

Do you save up for things with your allowance?
I don't. I have long term savings which go into fixed accounts that I cannot touch (an ISA and a regular saver). These go off by SO each month. I also have easy access savings which I build up monthly to use on big purchases and yearly spends like insurance, road tax, if I need a new TV etc. This is where I put my left over allowance.0 -
I don't set a weekly allowance. On payday I allocate as much money as needed to cover everything that *HAS* to be paid out before next payday, and see what's left. Then I decide what I can put into my ISA for the month and whatever is left is mine to spend for the month.
That being said, I don't spend very much other than day to day stuff, like lunches, cigs etc. If I ever go on a shopping trip with friends/family, I'm usually the one that ends up just buying a magazine or something lol.Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.0 -

I'm lucky, I didn't buy any books, I don't have a DVD player and I'm a brilliant cook (tandoori marrow is my latest thing) so 'my allowance' this week was just £5 for a 5 litre box of wine. :beer:0 -
looking through my accounts it would appear my 'allowance' is about £1000
... I'm working on reeling that one in... 0
