Best man at a wedding.......

Do you normally have to pay for the hire of tops & tails or should that be paid for?

Depends on how well off they are ?

If its a smallish wedding and funds are tight then surely get your own
  • I've got a few suits but I was asked to meet the bride & Groom at the tailors to rent tails etc. I was just a bit suprised to be told, "we're going to pick up the suits tomorrow, can you ring up and pay for yours".....

    whoa thats definatly not on!

You were not even asked? So in affect forced you into apying for it now...

I would just mention you didn't know you had to pay and it would have been nice to be told.

I would never expect a Best man or usher to buy their own unless they offered or it was arranged prior only IF they could afford it...

How much is it out of interest?

Agreed in principle - but this should be discussed and clarified beforehand.
It's easier to get forgiveness than to ask permission ;)
