We have XL TV, 10MB BB and normal phone.
The V-box seems to change my TV over to AV1 (the cable channel) when it's not switched on, which is really annoying when we're playing on the Playstation on AV5 and it suddenly switches to a blank screen!!
Doesn't do it when the scart cable is unplugged.
Also when watching cable it intermittently randomly adjusts the widescreen/4:3 ratio for a split second, which is also quite annoying.
If I phone Virgin will they just give me another V-box? As I've heard a few people have the problem and even one guy got a replacement box with the same issue.
Are there any tricks for getting a V+box installed with no installation charge? I find it unfair that they charge a valued customer and not a new customer but that's a different thread! Anyone know what I should say when I phone or is there no chance of getting one and not paying?

You'll get like for like unless you can get a "deal" but it seems the fault is with your tv not the box which would mean you'll get charged £35 poundscall out fee.
Go into the settings menu of the box then display settings and make sure the box is on widescreen and not 4:30

Why does it seem to be a fault with the TV? Even though it doesn't do it with any other AV equipment plugged into AV1 using the same scart cable? And other people have witnessed the same issue with the older boxes? It also doesn't change to widescreen with anything other than the v-box plugged in, I've tried the TV on all possible settings and the v-box on all it's settings and it still does it.
I was only wondering if there was some way I could ask for something or threaten to leave or something like that to get a free upgrade without paying for installation.Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!

I only have the standard box but if you go to settings and then change video and audio settings the bottom option is to switch off scart detection of the box. I switch this off when I want to plug something else in and that does work for me. Apologies if you've tried this already.0

No we know about the option but we do like the scart detection generally, we just don't want it to do it when the v-box is switched off!!
I suppose we'll have to turn it off and just switch the TV manually each time (I know it's not that much hassle really) if we can't get a replacement that works.Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!
