    I am not missing the point. I am saying that labouring the point is pointless and does no good ... the point is daft.

    Yes, I forget where I picked up the information but I understand that the supermarkets get paid by the banks for cashback. Edit: Here is a slightly different take on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debit_card_cashback
