when the will was written two siblings were on long term benefits (poor health) and still are, I am brother & executor and want to do what I possibly can to legally lessen the detrimental financial impact on my siblings benefits on receiving approx £25-30K.

You should be pleased that the money will make their lives a bit easier and they will be less reliant on the taxpayer.
I hope there are no loopholes that enable people to claim means tested benefits whilst having capital sums of money that most taxpayers can only dream of.0 -
I don't know what the rules and regulations are in relation to this at the point where you are at but for those looking at writing a will there is a way that it can be held in trust for those that do have ill health-which basically means they do not inherit outright but is held for when they 'need' it.0

Devildog is quite right but unfortunately my well intentioned elderly mother did not get that advice from a solicitor when making her will. She made me executor and just before she died, asked me to LOOK after them, now that is what I am trying to do! krisskross put yourself in someone elses boots, for your sake you want to pray you never loss your good health.

What benefits?
It does'nt matter which benefits, they are on them for the rest of their days, the monies coming to them is what is due to them, my mother worked hard to bring a family up on her own going without to see her children did not (and I don't mean luxuries)!
This money will have to last them literally to their graves, which could be many years from now.

With capital of £25k then they will not be able to get means tested benefits.
DLA if in payment will be unaffected and continue. As will any other non means tested benefits.0 -

you are the one that's being rude now!
we need to know which benefits they are on to work out if they are still eligible.
some benefits you are allowed savings (ie. dla), others you arent (ie. housing benefit, income related esa)
so dont jump the gun when asking advice. sh1305 is a helpful and genuine member and im sure this was his reason for asking2 esa medicals passed successfully (support group - it can be done!!)!! :j0 -
