i'm sure there is a way to enforce such a debt on a poor Brit like me....there's government office with an acronym that I forget that follows through on international obligations

the question is more if it's justified....to not mention money then pull a big amount out of nowhere :O

yes please....more mentions of brazilians to get me feeling better prior to the weekend

Hi. And thanks for the PM.

There is no easy way to take action against you. It simply wouldn't be worth the Brazillian lawyer's effort to do it.

Errr, yes I do know what google is. But I also know the variables that can apply for legal work - I've been doing it for many, many years. Have you?

If you know what google is then you will know that you can google anything. Whether you come up with the results you need is another matter but you lose nothing in trying. That's why I suggested, and still suggest the OP google the work the Brazilian lawyer did and if they don't find anything, email some Brazilian lawyers for quotes.

And please don't patronise me with comments about what I do. I have never done legal work - I would rather pay a lawyer to do it who has years of training and a good legal mind. Though I do find the majority of people who do this sort of work aren't much good at anything beyond quoting the specific points of law they have studied, or working through pre specified processes.

I think you are mistaken or have a hazy memory. There is little or no chance or this lawyer enforcing this debt via the British courts.

Hey, calm down a bit, eh?

I'm not patronising you. Seem to recall it was you that said "Do you know what google is?"

As for your last "point", you may need to pay a bit more to get a decent lawyer....;)

You don't owe this person anything morally or legally and the fee, if it is what you think, is completely ridiculous.
It just comes down to whether you want to upset your family.
