New line installation - only BT?

rather be tied into an 18mth contract with Sky rather than BT regardless as they caused no end of problems when trying to change the phoneline at the old address from them to sky so at least we wont have their 'hold' over the line again!
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=42630650&postcount=23Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
actually - i got that point in post #2!

Thats ok if you want to pay for 0845/0870 calls, not be allowed to use indirect access codes, and face the possibilty of changing your number and paying a new connection charge if you decide to leave Sky.0 -
thats where saynoto0870 comes into effect plus we have never bothered with indirect access codes coz we dont dial anywhere that is needed! plus BT are hiking their line rental!
as we havent had a number there is nothing to change??
my daughter been with sky talk for 5+ years without one single problem so we are more than
happy with their service when its connected, and certainly would have no reason to leave!! its just the delay in getting connected.
only posted as wanted to give an UPDATE to anyone who was following the forum PLUS any feedback would have been appreciated.0 -
we subscribed to sky tv , phone and broadband end of june...
the tv was installed fine....
phone and broadband was scheduled for the week after . I waited in all day even though it was an AM call !
I phoned sky at around 3pm and was told they couldnt get in touch with the engineer as it was openreach and just to wait in.
comes upto 5pm still no sign ...rings them back and to be told there was a problem and they have had to cancel and waiting on openreach to send out a service engineer ??
rang them since and been told not a line to our house ..we live in a flat and our neighbour has sky package same as ours
thought i would leave it a lil bit so they can sort it ..I got a phonecall yesterday but was working and missed the call . I rang them back today and to be told by customer services it was technical support and they would phone me back today .......well it is now 9:30pm and no call !!
i am not waiting till october to be connected ! i will cancel it lol0 -
let us knw how u get on!! good luck with it being sooner
they told us they needed to put a new post in, when the engineers come out to put the post up and connect it, they said there was no need at all!! dont think any of them know wot the heck they are doing!!
