Council tax arrears- not mine!!

I have a flat which I have rented out for aprox 2 years.
Last year the council contacted me about council tax arrears. I contacted them immediately and supplied them with copies of ALL tenancy agreements drawing their attention to the section which clearly states that tenants are responsible for council tax payments, as was their request.
I have received today a liability order.
As I have complied with their request for information and have not heard anything for at least 6 moths what is my next move regarding this liabilty order?
I have not received any other correspondance previous to this.

You need to contact them to determine the periods covered by the liability order and compare them to the tenancy agreements.I contacted them immediately and supplied them with copies of ALL tenancy agreements drawing their attention to the section which clearly states that tenants are responsible for council tax payments, as was their request.
Tenancy agreements cant override Council Tax legislation for determining who is liable . Is there any chance that at least one of the periods falls under the Council Tax rules regarding HMO's ?. If it falls as an HMO then the owner is liable by legislation irrespective of the tenancy agreement.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
