Got a 0& Abbey credit card and asked to transfer a balance when I applied now after a month I want to move a balance again and they say this will cost me up to £35 - are they having a laugh?
Also as I have to make the full payment in 6 days time do I have any choice as I don't have enough time to go to another card provider.
I'm shocked.
Many thanks
Macca

Yes this is normal for MBNA cards now. In fact you are lucky as the 2% balance transfer fee is capped at £50 or unlimited in some peoples T&C.
Only balance transfers at the time of application are fee free. The only exception for MBNA cards is Virgin which is supposedly fee free throughout the 0% period, although people do sometimes get charged seemingly in error.
6 days is not enough time to get another card.0 -
another one to file under "You did read the terms and conditions when you signed the agreement?"

Charges
Typical rate 15.9% APR (variable) on card purchases.
2% (min. £2, max. £35) may apply when you transfer balances and will always apply when you write a credit card cheque.
2% (min. £2) when you take money out over the counter or use a cash machine
Using your card abroad: 2.75% commission on foreign currency transactions.0 -
yes
if people are going to play the stoozing game, then one thing you have to get right, right at the beginning is to READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS ! You cannot blame the card company if you missed something in the T&C and end up getting charged.
I always summarise the main points for ALL cards as there are many differences between them all.0 -
Myabe try saying you want to transfer a balance but will only do it if they wave the charge, has worked for me and might work for you, worth a try.2p off is still 2p off!0

I cannot agree anymore that what Deemy wrote. The golden rule of Stoozing/being a CC Tart is read the T&C. Even the summary box would mentions any B/t charges.
Also, its important you have to rememeber that everyone's T&C might be different so don't just assume all posters of this board t&C are the same.Olympic 2007 challenge Started 9 Jan 2007[strike]Aim Silver 2007.00[/strike] Aim Gold 3007.00 Achieved so far:782
