Cheap gas boiler replacement in SE London?

Can anyone recommend a reliable Gas Safe engineer in SE London who won't rip me off for a new boiler installation? So far, have had 3 quotes, all telling me completely different things that I need, etc, etc, and I'm really confused. Am planning to sell within next 2 years so doesn't need to be super-duper, just functioning.

Don't even start me on British Gas, they have already messed me about with 2 appointments and seem to be really expensive anyway. If anyone can recommend someone trustworthy, I'd be so grateful. :o

How much have they quoted you? The boiler itself can cost anything between £300 and £1000 (I'm sure that you can go below and above this range, but the ones I looked a were all in this bracket).

However the fitting cost can vary hugely depending on what level of pipework is needed. I think I ended up paying £2,500 as I was going from an ancient gravity based system to a mains pressure condensing combi boiler (which is standard under buidling regs now). This included all of the pipework and removing the hot water tank etc, but was way more than I expected as I hdn;t foreseen the amount of pipework involved.

Either way, I'm not going to rcommend my plumber to you, because he's awful.

Condensing combi is not standard under building regs. A condensing boiler of your choice is all that is required.

Just to give you an idea, I am being charged £3037 by a local heating and plumbing engineer. Not much cheaper than the BG quote I got. I am getting a better combi WB 27 CDI instead of the junior 24 from BG, magna filter, deline scaler and 5 yrs warranty with annual servicing. The existing combi needs to be relocated from the kitchen to the airing cupboard. He is charging me for the power plus £350+vat and £40+ vat to remove cold water tank from the loft. I understand if I have problems with the radiators when they do the power flush, I will have to pay extra. I do not think it is that competitive. The total cost for the replacement boiler is £3037. He said it will take three days to do, I think two of them, they must be very slow. I know BG is expensive but if it was not for the boiler, I would still go with them, I have always been satisfied with their service and their good response. Hope this helps.

Good morning: the powerflush alone should take the better part of a day not to mention fitting the boiler to a new location and coverting the system from open vented to sealed....better a proper job than an expedient one.;)

For London, I don't think that is a bad price.
