At christmas i bought my girlfriend a digital camera, i think costing about £70 then there was an option for memory card ker ching, then this product replacement cover for about another £15, my girlfriend has since put it in the alternative universe that she carries around everywhere with her that she refers to as a handbag and now we have a cracked screen which i am sure would been deemed our ( her ) fault and therefore not covered under warranty.
thing is we have moved house and the chances of actually finding the receipt are between none and absolutly none, has anyone found a way of getting them to honouor warranty with out this receipt. I have box it came in and paid by debit card so have proof of purchase
anyone reckon there is any legs in trying to request a copy of the receipt first ?
any help appreciated might help stop me being angry with girlfriend for being careless !
thanks in advance

If you have your card with you, they might be able to trace the sale, and if they can do that you should be able to get a printout of the receipt.

Actually all you should need (according to SOGA) is POP.......which doesnt HAVE to be a receipt.
Statement from your bank should suffice. Of course, if she's made other purchases at the same time......it could cause problems but they cannot make it conditional upon supplying them with a receipt. You keep using that word. the only things i bought were camera mem card and replacement cover, called in yesterday, they said POP was okay for warranty but it was my resposibility to look after the receipt, it still should be under warranty, but im guessing this crack in screen ( it is internal not the outer screen ) they will just say we've caused it and not covered by warranty, but should be covered by the extra cover that i paid for?
cheers for your answers by the way guys0 -

They say this on their website with regards to product replacement cover:
We all know how easy it is to accidentally drop things, but this doesn’t mean that it has to dent your wallet. If the damage prevents the item from working, we’ll replace it.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

But this isn't a SOGA issue.0 -

But if its good enough for SOGA it should be good enough for warranty/cover plan.
And although its probable it has been caused by accidental damage, i am not an expert on the engineering of cameras therefore i cannot say without a doubt (and i'm sure you cant either) that its not a manufacturing fault...............
The reason SOGA doesnt NEED a receipt is because the retailer has no legal obligation to provide one at time of sale. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
i might just take it back in with bank statement then and claim I dont know how it happened.
Got a worse problem on my hands now with a £500 mobile phone thats 4 months old that they say has a non warrenty fault and cant be repaired leaving me 14 months contract and no phone
since you guys seem pretty clued up, best way for actually chasing up SOGA stuff,
should i be approching T mobile or HTC?
feel like giving up on gadgets to be honest they certainly dont improve quality of life0 -

Whoever you bought it from. So if you purchased it from (for instance) carphone warehouse, go back to them. First port of call should be the retailer as that is who you have the contract with (for SOG faults at least).
Within the first 6 months its up to them to prove the fault wasnt inherent or is due to misuse by the consumer. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
just checking through my contract details and realised it was coming up to 6 months on contract rather than 4 and thought it had sneaked over slightly, spoke to someone to get the exact date of delivery and got an english call centre ( very rare, normally manilla ) who said that it was riduculous that they are putting up a fight,
brand new phone getting delivered by courier tomorrow,
now * clicks fingers * back to argos and the camera !!!!
cheers for your help again guys!0 -

I disagree. SOGA provides rights at law which cannot be excluded when dealing as a consumer.
A warranty / cover plan is a conditional remedy. It is necessary to comply with the conditions in order to claim.0
