HTC desire/ iPhone Question for Vodafone.

Hi, I am thinking of purchase a HTC Desire on a£20 a month Contract, with the handset costing £110 (24 mths).
This is where i need my questions answered, once the HTC Desire arrives, is it possible to not put the contract sim in the Desire, then put the Desire on Ebay and sell for at least £350, then buy a new unlocked iPhone 3G S on ebay, and when that arrives, put the vodafone contract sim in the iPhone, so would that work ok, with the same tariff (unltd texts, 1gb, 600 mins) ?
And also, if a new phone came out 12 months down the line, for example a new iPhone, could i then sell the 3G S, and buy an unlocked new iPhone and put the same 24 month Vodafone sim in there?
Thanks!

i'm sure it would work but my opinion is that both phones are soo similar, it would be a waste of time.

What does a 3GS do, that a Desire can't? They are both new cutting edge smart phones.

I think it works but isn't the cheaper way to do it to get a tesco sim only contract or something?

Yeah but Tesco doesn't offer the Desire.
    Any other solutions?

Seems a lot of hassle for not a lot of gain! I doubt you'd get any more than £350 for a Desire- brand new from a shop they are £390 so IMHO £350 is very top end what you'd get of eBay- indeed classifieds on AV forums sell for £270 ish.

Buy an unlocked Desire then, and put the Teso SIM in it!

Or, try GiffGaff. Also run off the o2 network. Buy a 'Goodybag', for similar-to-contract offers - £15 for 300 mins, unlimited texts and internet, or £35 for unlimited everything. No long contracts (as it is technically pay as you go). Right now, if you buy before the end of July, you can get 2 month's of Goodybags for half price.
