Title of book about living in and renovating Welsh cottage

Dear All

It's a long shot I know, but does anyone recognize a book about someone's real-life account of living in a half-ruined Welsh cottage.

They had problems with damp and had to paint the walls yearly (and stay away from them) as well as having numerous other hardships with crops and livestock.

Does it ring any bells? Any replies gratefully received as my Google mojo seems to have deserted me in this case!

IIRC they dragged a caravan across three fields and built their own wind generator.
