GHD Loose Iron plate. What to do?

My sister's purple limited edition GHD's have suddenly "developed" a loose plate. We bought it online from a verified GHD seller, and they are definitely genuine.
They were bought last Year in January (2009)
What are my rights, and what should we do, who should we contact?
Also, if we send the GHDs to GHD, and they refuse to repair, will they just send it back to us.
I have no clue what to do, please help.
The GHDs are always stored in their case and the case is always placed back in the supplied box.
I would greatly appreciate any help!

You can send them back to GHD (contact them on their site) but you may need a receipt or proof of purchase. If they decide not to/can't repair them they will send them back but there will be a letter saying they advise you NOT to use them anymore and that if you injure yourself doing so then it's not their fault as they have advised you not to use them.
I know this cuz I sent mine back after they cracked. They turned round and said I must have dropped/sat on them so it would be like £60 to repair as they won't do it for free as they believed I was responsible. I hadn't broke them so I refused to pay and they sent them back.
Wasn't too happy but I ended up buying the new pink ones instead0 -
With faulty/damaged items, it is assumed within the first 6 months only that the fault was inherent and therefore up to the retailer to prove otherwise.
Outwith the first 6 months, the onus is on the consumer to prove the fault was inherent and is not the result of wear and tear or misuse.
However, just because they say you sat on them/broke them, doesnt mean its true. You can commission an independent report to find out if it was a manufacturing defect or not. If it is, they would be looking to refund the cost of that report also.
However bear in mind that any refund issued can take into account use you have had of the product - although usually they attempt to at least repair the item first.
Also, price you paid is important, you wouldnt expect a £10 set to be as good/last as long as a £200 pairBut of course, GHD are supposed to be great and expensive so............
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
If they won't repair for whatever reason, there are lots of people who offer a GHD repair service. I paid £20 to have mine repaired at this site:

In my case I'd had them some time and they were a present, so I had no proof of purchase to give to GHD. I figured an extra £20 was better than forking out for a new pair though!0 -
