Lovemedo sells off it's sample dresses, there is one redced to 150 from 899! It's pink. There is also alfred angelo 2051, which isn't very wedding dressy for 150 with 50 cashback, as they are a store you can go and try them on too. I can't find the size of the dresses on their site though sorry0

I just measured myself
I'm 38" (across the bust), 34" on the waist and 38" on the hips. I might just wear a kaftan. None of the dresses will fit me properly. (I think it's the right measurement but I really am a UK size 12-14 in normal clothes)
Are bridal dresses made small??
No idea, I have a hard enogh time high street shopping!! I was told I was a 8 but I rarely buy an 8.
Once you have found your dress and it fits in most place then you will be able to have it altered so don't start looking up kaftans just yet0 -
have you considered hiring? i'm hiring mine for £75 from a prom dress shop - traditional wedding dress style but i don't feel any need to keep it (although i can understand why people would want to!)
also means you get the whole trying on experience without being in a bridal shop - i found all of that a bit overwhelming, but it was so relaxed in the prom dress shops!
consider a lace-up back if you think your measurements might make it hard to find a dress that fits well - particularly good for big boobs but a tiny waist!!! xxx0 -
I bought my dresses (yes - i bought two - miss indecisive) from Ebay, both cost less than £150 and im just about to relist the first one on there. Both are designer and one is still in the 2010 collection. Worn once, but only for a few hours and look good as new.
If you are concerned about sizes then go for something with a lace up back in your usual size, it may give you a bit of breathing space if its running a bit small.
Also, if its zip up you can get it changed to lace up to give you a bit more space (as im doing with my dress):jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -

I am 36 32 40. I can assure you I am not wearing a kaftan, and will you, daft apeth!! They do not come up small, but it does vary, looky you are in proportion, I am going to have to pay to have my dress taken in at the waist and bust! You have your measurements so just try and find a dress that is that size, or as near as, bearing in mind you might need a little for alterations. I am telling you bridal dresses look so much better with a bit of meat on the bone. And many have a very flattering cut, you just need to go along to a shop, try loads on, see what suits you best then get one that's in a similar style cheaper elsewhere. Don't despair!! xxI have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Just means you have a lovely hour-glass figure with your boobs and hips being the same size! I'm 36-27-36 which means I can never get jeans or dresses that fit me properly. Anything that fits my boobs or hips is gaping on the waist. Our shape is PERFECT for the classic wedding dress shape as they are fitted around the waist and accentuate it beautifully. A lace-up back will definitely be your friend as it'll pull your waist right in while having room for your boobs.
As others have said, it's normal to have a wedding dress altered after you buy it. Also, did you measure your waist in the right place? I was shocked when the shop measured me as my waist was about three inches higher than I thought it was. It should be the narrowest point, and if you stand in front of a mirror and lean sideways, it'll be where you get a crease. It's above your belly button which is where I always thought mine was lol.
Different makes of dress will come up differently. I'm normally a size 10 but my wedding dress was an 8 which cheered me up no end. :rotfl:
I think the first step is to go to both bridal shops and Monsoon and other high street shops and get an idea of what you like. I thought I wanted something really simple and elegant and ended up in a total meringue.
If you do fall in love with a bridal shop type dress, there are ways to get them cheaper; second hand for example and as others have said most shops will have a sale rail. Dress designers vary massively in price, anything from £500 to thousands. The cheaper ones still do absolutely stunning gowns and you could get a sale rail one for a couple of hundred if your budget has any wiggle room.0 -

Oooo, can I have your figure please?? You will look amazing in a 'classic' wedding dress with a lace up back as you will look a million dollars! If you like any of the ebay dresses, always ask for measurements rather than dress size, thats what I usually suggest as each dress is different!!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -
Thank you taadaa, sarah_elton and frannyann!
You lot are lovely and amazing in here. Given me the courage to go back on ebay to look! Got a dress fitting appointment at the local shop on saturday, might book myself in for another one too0 -
Hi everybody
Just thought I'd tell you about the new second hand wedding dress shop in Edinburgh. Loads of used and sample dresses in recent styles and the day I went I saw plenty in big sizes - up to a size 28. Little sizes too as small as a 6. I suppose the dresses come in the same sizes real people do, lol. Anyway, the shop's called Bliss Studio - if you google Bliss Studio Edinburgh you'll get there website with pictures of all the dresses theyve got. Hope that helps! :j Forgot to say - they hire as well. Don't know anywhere else in Edinburgh that does that.:T0
