I can't get Orange to unlock my HTC

My phone is an HTC Touch Diamond bought on a contract over a year ago. I've been trying since the 14th of June to get Orange to give me the unlock code. They've helped themselves to £20 from my account, to pay themselves for providing the unlock code, but they have still not given me the code.
I keep calling them of a weekly basis only to be told the code is on its way/ to be offered to be given the PAC code again! (useless)/ and the most recent one to be told that they have putin the request to the manufacturer again! and that I still need to wait 7-14 days for it.

I think they are only buyingthemselves sometime so that I don't call back for another two weeks. I am pretty sure our conversation in 2 weeks time will be a repeat of any of the three I have had with them already!!

Any suggestions for how I can make them give me the code?

Orange have made me hate them. They seem to enjoy this but such an attitude surely is not good news for their investors.

Orange don't generate the code themselves, they have to get it from the manufactures.

Sounds like HTC are the one's dragging their feet. I'd get on to CS and if they can't give you a date for the code get onto a team leader and demand they sort something out (I believe they quote 10 days max, so they're well over)...

There are plenty of sunday markets where you can get the SP lock removed from your handset, and for less than £20 as well.

Did you try looking at the Touch Diamond forum on XDA-Developers.com? They may have a free unlocker. They did for my other WinMobile phones, otherwise buy a code from fleabay from a reputable seller. It shouldn't cost anywhere near £20.
  • "Orange Customer Service" is an Oxymoron - I assume you've already discovered this, which is why you are switching providers.
As others have said, a search online, or on your high street, should find someone who'll unlock your phone for a lot less than £20

An update on my earlier post.
I am still chasing orange up and called today to request for a refund so that i can unlock my phone on the high street.
Orange once again never fails to disappoint! Now they are alleging that they have never charged me for the code, hence they never raised a request (this is the first time i hear this as everyone I had spoken to so far seemed to be able to see the request on the system and the charge on my bill!!!) they are sending a hard copy of the bill as we speak and I WILL be calling back.

What is worse, is that customer service is ALSO now telling me that I would not be able to get the phone unlock through them if i wanted to anyway since i am no longer their customer and have no account with them. THIS GOES DIRECTLY AGAINST WHAT THEY STATE ON THEIR WEBSITE.

I am getting very cheesed off with this company that does not only seem to be incompetent but also now seem to be misleading their customers and general public.
I pointed out to them that what I was being told was going against their statement on the website only to be told that the website is WRONG!

I now need to find out who to raise this with as it sounds very worrying if this is truly their policy.
