I would not as a fashion statement - some people do.

I would in your position - if you have two dogs and one needs more walks while the other can not cope with walking much.

BUt reasons aside - it is about time someone thought of making those look more like pet aid thngs than baby strollers as they do look silly and you willl get few sily looks from people not aware of the situation. Unfortunately.

yeh definately! Who cares if people think you are daft! We were on holiday in Padstow a couple of weeks ago and we saw a family with an old dog in one. He looked really happy and I thought how nice it was of them to include him on their day out even when it means a bit more effor on their part. Do it!

what about using a pull along trailer type thing, like the things that kids pull around. would your dog sit in that?
it would look much better than a pushchair type.

If I had a dog who would benefit from one of these then I would not hesitate to use one. I would like to think I am not so vain and self-obsessed to be worried about what others think or if I would look like a "wally" - who cares?? My dogs' needs are paramount.

Anybody who could not cope with a twinge of "embarassment" in order to make an aging or infirm pets life a little easier is no animal lover in my eyes.

For those who say they should make them look less like a pushchair - How? Why? Isn't that exactly what they are? Would you prefer them to look like a wheelchair?

OP - found these for your perusal ....

I say go for it! A friend at work two older dogs of a similar age and one can walk fine and the other would just manage it to the end of the street. He has a family with children so when he goes to the park with the kids/dogs he take the poorly one in an old push chair and doesnt think anything of it.
I personally would feel horrible if I took 2 of my dogs without the other one, I would rather look a bit silly and have her with me.

If you like spending time with your dogs it shouldnt matter what people think, they should realise its for a reason and like others have said maybe try getting hold of a cheap fold up pushchair rather than paying out quite a bit of money for an actual dog pushchair

A lady I know used to push her black lab with the other walking beside it, I never saw her get strange looks.

It was made of plywood with two wheels and straight handles. There is a pic in my link of a red one to give you an idea. Add straight handles and you will understand. Could you get someone to rustle one up for you?

I would get something to carry or push my dogs around in if they were unable to walk very far.
They love going out and I would not like to deprive them of it. :)

One lady regularly pushes her westie round in one at the park. He is only 3 but has arthritis. Now and then he decides he can walk a bit, so out he gets and joins in with the pack. Then when he has had enough he goes and paws the push chair and gets put back in. No one thinks its odd, but then they are all dog people in the park. I think Id have to put some sort of amusing sign on it if I ever get one. May be a disabled sticker - I wonder if they do dog ones?

There are also other companies that make dog carts / "wheelchairs" but have a look at this example

    http://www.dogswheels.com/

Glucosamine, cod liver or salmon oil, oily fish such as mackrel, chrondroitin, rosehip, devils claw, hydrotherapy, canine massage etc each have their fans & are natural aids which may be worth investigating for those dogs with arthritis.
