HELP!! Dodgy Replacement goods from Insurers

Hi,
I need an urgent quick answer from this if anyone can help PLEASE!
I lost my camera, a great canon G7, the insurers were great and they replaced it with a G11, the latest in the range. Problem is I now have the camera and basically its rubbish. Its gone from being a decent sturdy, semi-pro handheld to a pathetic, plastic lightweight amateur model.
What are my return rights. My insurers bought this from Jessops.

Ive had it for three days.0

Does it do everything that the G7 did, if so you've been given a like-for-like replacement and therefore there's nothing you can do. You did, after all, agree to accepting this camera as a replacement I presume.0

Hi Neil, thanks for the response.
Yes it does do everything, but not as good, the dials are more clunky, they get in the way, and its so plasticky and light. Yes I have been given a like for like.
But what I am banking on is that I should be able to look at the goods and then decide, The replacement is not what I expected, its a poor imitation of its predecessor and yes I agreed to accept this but I basically had no option, they said heres the replacement!
Surely I can return the camera in its box with all its bits basically unused (maybe to Jessops). It is just no comparison and not as good as the G7 (yes thats my opinion)0 -

Unless the camera is faulty, Jessops may not agree to a refund."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
So am I being unfair to ask that I am happy with a camera I have to use and basically put up with , just because I was tempted into rushing into agreeing this replacement.?
Just because its the latest like for like dont mean its a good replacement, and surely you cannot tell this until you have the camera in hand. Isnt this why distance selling is so regulated?
Looks like I will have to sell this camera as a used camera and put this down to experience then.
Thanks all for your help0 -

You didn't buy it though, did you? Your insurers bought it from Jessops, who then gave it to you, so the DSR don't apply here. The reviews of the G11 I can find do not bear out your criticisms:

I agree the reviews were great, I looked at them, but believe me the difference between a G7 which was very sturdy, weighty and solid, like a *real* camera to this G11 which is lightweight and very much like a toy is very stark. I agree its subjective and I will have to sell it probably, but I disagree that I didnt buy it. I paid my premiums and I paid my excess fee so in fact I did buy it.0 -
Try the G9, still solid and a decent upgrade on the G7. I have the G9 and it's my most used camera out of 2 SLRs and a variety of bridge and compact cameras. The man without a signature.0

Since you didn't directly buy it, I think there's little you can do. You won't even have proof or purchase to allow you to ask Jessops for an exchange or similar.
In hindsight, it would have been wise to test one out in store before agreeing to the replacement.
Best I can recommend is to contact the insurance company and ask if they can offer anything. I'm afraid AFAIK you're reliant on their good will.0 -

Thanks.... I wish I had bought a used g9. Bit of advice ...dont get a G11, its like a toy and weighs the same as a feather.0
