As Hamish seems to have misunderstood today's chief story - how strange! - I thought I'd make MSE's own opinion abudantly clear. :)

I think you will find that Hamish has actually read the link and is merely pointing out this bit:

The group said surveyors were still reporting house price rises in most parts of the country, but the increase in the supply of homes for sale was pushing many of the regional balances towards negative territory, with the exception of London and Scotland.

When did 'Press Association' become MSE icon7.gif

Silly MSE. Silly press association. Silly RICs.

Claiming falls when actually its rises in real terms apparently, says hamish. But it's actually stagnantion says really2. It's falls if you listen to RICs, but if you muffle out the falls bit they drivvel on about, they do talk about rises in london, so it's actually rises if you listen to RICs. But it could be stangation, so to cover all bases, it's wise to talk about real terms and bananas.

Press assosiation....such amatuers. I'm surprised they don't mention any of this. As for MSE putting this up as a story....scaremongerers.

    Silly RICs.
got to love the double standards... one moment RICS are rubbish and now they're the best
These RICs people are starting to get on my nerves.

In 2007 they stated that in 2008 prices would not fall.

Some one has got in a kerfuffle about what "Real Terms" means again...........................Nurse.

No one has claimed falls GD. They have forecast the market going forward. We all know what people think of forecasts on here, don't we?:)

    Poor Hamish.

Proof, if any is required, that carolt created this entire thread just to goad Hamish into an argument. So much for those misguided fools who jump into the middle of carolt arguments to heroically defend the poor thing.

Attention seeking at its best. Shame carolt uses MSE as her personal stress toy, but I guess we have to put up with it until she is sated.

No one has claimed falls, GD

Gahhh, darn it. Just can't get it right. I thought an MSE news article entitled "House prices expected to fall" was MSE, sorry, the Press Association claiming falls.

I just can't seem to get it. It's really bizzare. I mean, when they were claiming rises, it was so simple. The forum was covered in rises stories and little men jumping up and down, clapping, and spilling beer.

It was so simple back then. An article said "rise" and it was a rise. It was a celebration. Everyone knew where they stood.

Now, everything means something different depending on who you talk to. Even the people telling you you are wrong to think a fall is a fall are all describing the fall as a rise or stagnation, but they are of course right, doesn't matter how they describe it, they are right, so long as they don't say fall.

Therefore, I am going to try and join the gang. Maybe, just maybe I can get something right for once. I'm really hoping here.

What MSE, BBC, RICs, Press Association are ACTUALLY saying when they say falls, is MASSIVE rises, with some stagnation, but mainly rises on the back of stagnation, in real, and unreal terms, and factoring in the prices of pears and stoned fruit, it's a rise.

Thank god, I got it, finally.

    Rises. Woop, I'm richer! :j
