You do realise, the more I see this, and the more chucky and the gang thank it, the more I know I'm getting on your nerves?

Not so much getting on nerves, frustrated perhaps, let's be honest someone that doesn't understand a YoY graph or the difference between nominal and real probably shouldn't be posting on a forum like this.

From what I can see RICS are predicting nominal falls and PWC are suggesting no above real term rises for a while.

The reality is doe not matter whether these people are right of wrong because the General public just see the headline and worry kicks in just like it did with the budget. The majority do not understand real term etc so they will see no return to recovery till 2020 and simply assume that house prices will not go back to 2007 prices till 2020.

According the the Scottish news last night, house prices fell 22% in the last year. There are more "for sale" signs but less "sold" ones here.

But then would they not wander why prices were not dropping and could be above that point nominally in less than 5 years nominally?

They can be thick on both sides, all they will do then is presume the prediciton is wrong.

The headline is House Prices Expected To Fall. I suspect for most people that will be sufficient information. I cannot believe there would be many who are as 'interested' as us lot, to spend a whole morning posting away frantically about real and nominal whatevers.

Let's hope not, if the world was full of people like us there would be very few leaving the house to go and do something. Is it raining in nominal or real terms? Dunno, I'll wait and see what they say on MSE.

    No.

    They wouldn't wonder anything.

The majority will see the BBC news, a falling prices graph, and that will be as far as it goes for 95% (I would guess) of the population.

To be completely honest, hardly anyone outside of those invested for monetry gain gives a stuff about nominal prices. It does not matter a jot to anyone who just wants a home to live in.

Indeed and it will be gone tomorrow. I presume they rise every time someone says they will go up also.;)

He does it deliberately, no one can be as stupid and dense as devon portrays himself. Ergo, he's doing it deliberately to muddle up threads.

What? every mortgage is nominal and every purchase price is nominal.

Most people only understand nominal, because they compare what they purchased for against what they sold for.

ASFAIK a lot of people are bothered in terms of LTV and NE.
