My friend is a barrister and tells me that her colleagues refuse to entertain any applications that arrive at her set for pupilages / mini-pupilages from candidates who are non-Oxbridge. She has huge arguments with them about this but they just can't see the problem with this method of whittling down applications for shortlists.3-6 Month Emergency Fund #14: £9000 / £10,0000 -

I am sure it is that as I am no longer a 1st year they do not really care.
I only think this because I know they read my emails as they let slip they have some time afterwards and yet they never reply, it is very strange!:beer:0 -

Phil, I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but why don't you ring the departmental administrator's office? The admin staff will work broadly 9-5 (though be patient - even secretaries need the odd loo break). The lecturers for whatever reason are not responding to emails at this time.
As much as we'd like to, no-one on this site can do anything more than speculate as to why you have had no response. Neither can we help you with your query. You are spending a lot of time on this thread that isn't helping with the solution to your original problem.
If you want want to move forward and achieve the things you want to achieve, then you need to take action and deal with the way life really IS, instead of complaining to the wrong people about how awful it is that life isn't the way you'd LIKE IT TO BE.
I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, you sound like a nice chap, but at the moment, on this and several other threads, you appear to be wallowing in self-pity and anger when you could probably more usefully channel that energy into doing something positive to help yourself get the things you need.0 -
I am going to campus later this week so I will nosy if they are there and see what they say. I am not however spending £5 on traveling to go to university when they are not likely there.:beer:0

You didn't answer the question about why not ring the admin office.
A phone call in advance would be all you'd need to find out if anyone can see you when you make that visit.
Be brave.....:D0 -
Or, write to them. The post will be opened, date-stamped and logged every day - so no chance for avoidance on their part - if indeed, that is what is happening.
If you type a letter now asking someone to ring you with a response ASAP and get it in the evening post, they should get it in the morning and get straight back to you.0 -

studentphil wrote:It has nothing to do with being brave as I am very able to use the phone. I have asked before and the office only knows if they are signed out or away and not if they are in meetings or off doing something else on campus.
Sorry - wasn't implying anything about your ability to use the phone, more your reluctance.
It's up to you. It's only you who has to deal with the consequences at the end of the day....0 -

I will write a letter and I will post it in his office door if he is not there when I go.:beer:0 -
