Thanks for sharing the photos, some great shots, silly question, but is it safe to wander around like a typical tourist with the SLR round your neck?

Take the usual precautions, but yes. Crime against foreigners is very low, because there is a very wide social acceptance of the need to present a welcoming face to the world. Cuba needs $$$ !

... the name escapes me, but I will have a hunt around for the guidebook. If you can find any bar that was open during Hemingway's time there's a fair chance he drank there ;)

    Thank you.

Yet another question. Having googled about tavel plugs I'm confused. Shall I just take a couple of ones that I'd use in Europe and then buy a couple of the American ones?

    thanks in advance.

There are very few ATMs in Cuba, so do not rely on the card. Make sure to take as much cash with you as you will need. All the larger hotels will allow you to change money (and the rates are not too bad). When you leave Cuba you have to pay a departure tax (in cash), so make sure you keep enough money for that.

    Enjoy your holiday!

  • brilliant, the question about currency was what I needed to know too!

I'm presuming that it's best to take sterling travellers cheques as well as cash?

Last time, then I'll go away. Should I just take a US and a EU adapter?

    Thanks
