Hey all, I had a contract with Vodafone and went into Phones4U who offered me a new phone and better contract on Orange. I rang Vodafone in store and they said it's fine to cancel the contract and would only owe the last couple of monthly line rental costs.

I asked Vodafone for my PAC code and gave this to Orange so I could keep my number.

However a couple of months down the line (today) I received a letter from Vodafone saying I owe a £73 charge for cancellation prior to the contract end date? I thought I only owed the line rental charges up until the contract end date?

I did try ringing Vodafone and got a very unhelpful and rude foreign lady who would not pass me to a manager after giving me three different explanations as to why there was this charge.

Also sent two emails to Vodafone online (as you can't email them anyway outside of their site) to get no replies?

Can anybody help me as neither I, or my friends have never had or heard of this charge before on Vodafone or other networks?

Thanks in advance!

The Early termination charge is Months Left x cost per month for your contract.

How mny months did you have left at what cost? If it's 2 months and a few days on a £35 PCM contract, or 3 months on a £25 PCM contract thats seems about right.
  • My contract was £35 a month and I cancelled in the beginning of May and my contract should have been up in August. But I have also had two direct debits taken from my account in May and June for the £35?

I thought you pay line rental for the month in advance which means by paying Junes by direct debit I paid for July and should only have had one payment left, and not the £73 charge?

The unhelpful foreign lady did say in one of her three explanations on what the charge was that it was a charge for early cancellation on top of the monthly line rental costs...that's why I'm so confused!

I think it's because you have to give 30 days notice, so the contract would expire then there would be 30 days on top of that
