Does a standard manufacturers guarantee on a item (any item) include the replacement of anything damaged by it? For example, if a DVD player breaks and destroys a DVD, are they also responsible for replacing the DVD?

Im not too sure about this, as it's an added guarantee by the manufacturer and not a statutory requirement. Would it not in this circumstance fall to the manufacturer?

Other households were affected as the lightening came down the phone line provided by BT, the surge protector has a phone in port and is supposed to stop this from then going to other equipment.

Yep its the Tritton Road Comet.

It all comes under Consequential Loss as part of that equipments failure, still waiting for this Monster Company to reply, now been exactly 1 month from date it happened and still nothing from Comet or Monster.
