What interesting things do you plan to grow next year?

After a nice year in the garden, I have began to peruse the seed lists again for fun things next year.

I plan to grow some unusual tomatoes, including christmas grape tomato and black cherry

I also want to do some cavelero nero kale and some radichio chicory.
oh! And some lemon cucumbers!

And.... if i'm very good maybe a bat plant!

What unusual or interesting things do you plan to grow next year?

I'm thinking of growing purple peas, yellow mange tout and yellow courgettes. I think they all look beatiful and it will be much easier to spot them in amongst all the greenery!

I am also thinking about growing a chocolate-brown sweet pepper.

The more seed websites I look at, the more interesting veg I see!

Wow compared to some of those mine doesn't sound that exotic but I did 'squashkins' this year (pumpking/butternut mix) and they are looking fab so will do those again...also seen some squashes that look like snakes so will do those with the kids.

I have some waiting to germinate in my plastic greenhouse thing, which I'll keep on a windowsill over winter. I know it's a bit late to be planting, but I'm new to growing veg etc and very excitable! I didn't plant all of the seeds!

Next year, I'll be planting 8-ball courgettes, chocolate chilli plant, big jim chilli and the usual veg. But it's all exciting to me, having not done it before!

I never make my mind up until the reduced price seeds go on sale in Autumn as the shops clear out for Christmas stocks

Last years haul included black cherry plum tomatoes. I have to wait & see what they are like, but they are growing & fruits are forming

Farway- I also have black cherry in at the minute and they are pretty good growers! Can't wait to taste them. Supposedly they have a slightly salty taste?

Squashkins sound good! Must take a look. I was also thinking of growing the world tiniest tomatoes for a bit of a laugh in tomato soup cans.... Supposedly they only grow to 12cm but have 20 fruit on each one?

I'll definately try some unusual chillis & start them from seed as early as i can indoors-probably early January....ones you can't buy in the shops easily...was thinking of lemon drop, the hot one bhut jolakia & chocolate habernos-& also some of those iranian cherry shaped ones.

Will hunt out as the OP has mentioned some unusual tomatos too...& will not make as many as this year (!)...no room anywhere! Will also definately do CHEYENNE chillis again (orange when ripe)-bought as a plug plant mid-April from Wilco-grew indoors & planted out in g/house early June-VERY attractive plant-loads of BIG green chillis on it already....would make a fab houseplant too! Also the BELL BOY peppers (red)-plug plants from wilco-again-very attractive looking & again would make fantastic house plants on a windowsill! Will try & grow them from seed early too.

Nasturtians of all types-again will grow from seed (can't seem to find them in garden centres)....very attractive for outside & lovely flowers..will try & find some unusual varieties....

Will also try out some attractive perrenials (need to hunt some out as garden only gets sun from 1-30 onwards) from seed-save having to plant new pots every year!!!

Are they from seed? Do you have a source?

Stuff we're planning that we haven't done before:
    • cauliflower
    • self-blanching celery
    • tomatillo :)
    • new varieties of chilli and basil

They are grown from seed at about the same time as tomatoes. the flowers are lovely too. They grow really wide and fruit until first frosts.
