1st Central Car Insurance claimed made against me

Hi all,
This is the first time i have written on a forum but i would like some advise if possible.
Back in November 2009 i had a car bump in which i was driving down a 30mph road and the car in front decided to slam all on with nothing in her way obstructing her, meaning i went into the back of her. My car (Ford KA) was not damaged and what i saw of her (Rover MG) was also not damaged other than the usually bump mark. Anyway at the scene she said she was sorry and didnt know why she slammed on etc etc.
When i got home i contacted 1st Central my car insurance people and advised them of the bump, in which they advised as i went into the back of them its my fault etc etc, in which i thought well fine.
Anyway since then i had not heard or recieved anything so i presumed she had not claimed.
Last week i renewed my car insurance and was advised that the other person actually did claim on my insurance meaning it is now sky high and i have lost all of my no claims bonuses. I asked 1st Central to send me all correspondance regarding this bump as i was bemused how a claim could be made without my consent.
Anyway received the letter over the weekend with a Solicitors letter attached which firstly had the wrong address on the top, secondly had the wrong car details (her partners car, she lives close by and it is parked on her drive!!)and wrong registration number but the pictures were attached of the MG Rover that i bumped?- the person i bumped into had totally been dis honest in her account that happened and said i had not seen her slow down in time and that she had recieved injuried to the accident- whiplash, soft tissue damage in which at the time she was fine and was moving perfectly fine to me.
The pictures of the car had shown the back was all smashed in, even the side panels, inside the boot of the car and inside the car at the back was apprently all cracked which i believe is in correct and was not caused from me, bearing in mind i was driving a Ford KA and no damage what so ever on my car and i would of hit her i guess around 20mph by the time i slowed down (i was also a safe distance away of 2 cars).
I am very angry that she has done this and totally lied about what happened and i guess got a good pay out!!
I am writing to my insurance people today asking how they could allow for this claim to go ahead with all the incorrect details on the Solicitors leter and how they had not picked this up? i am not sure where i stand legally with this and i dont have lots of money to pay out on solicitors fee etc im just very dis heartend at how the woman could have lied and took advantage of the situation and me. I would have happily consented to the woman been paid out if she had not been as dis-honest and not had made claims that are so far fetched.
Any advice would be welcomed and anyone been in a similar situation?

You were at fault for the incident, and the claim has been dealt with by your insurer. You agree to letting your insurer deal with claims made against you. Whatever the outcome, you would have lost NCD as a result of a claim.
Your insurer will have dealt with the claim in the most economic way for them.
So there is nothing to be gained by spending money on solicitors over this.0
