Your not alone,, same thing with mine but i got 9 plants,, some were from runners last year, i have only had 15 strawberries,, some didnt even flower, im not sure why or what to do next year? At least my tomato plants are looking good :-)0

I think they have been short of water this year. Strawberries are 90% water so you need to keep them well watered.0

Have you been giving them some tomato feed or other suitable fertiliser?
Also, i may be wrong as i don;t know much about tis gardening lark, but i think there are some strawbs that only fruit from June to mid July and others that fruit for a whole season, so perhaps it comes down to what variety you have planted. Perhaps you can google for some info specific to your particular strawb variety?Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Normally the second year is the best year of cropping, third year onwards they tend to get smaller, which is why constant supply of fresh runners is ideal
Year 1 - settling in, small crop
Year 2 - Full production
Year 3 onwards - going down hillWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
Yep
Same here I'm afraid. We have 18 plants and have got used to picking them every night and bingeing. Sadly, they are all gone till next year .0 -
Cropping 'season' for most varieties is only a couple of weeks.
We've had whoppers from our raised bed this year - most of the current bed were runners from 2008 and some from 2009, all having been moved from a smaller bed which was too cramped.
Mine are Elsanta if I remember correctly.
Lots of water and tomato food required.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Try feeding them once a week with rose or tomato food., and keeping them well watered without drying out between waterings.0

I have also got Elsanta. Six plants in a raised bed, fed and watered regularly and only 3 produced strawberries. About 15 in total. Very disappointing.0

I'd say they were old plants. Plant the runners and get rid of the original plants.... Better luck next year
Skint but happy with my lovely family
