I don't understand why people have both a bath and a shower cubicle in the same bathroom? Please could someone explain.
I prefer to have a shower over the bath as it is much easier to clean than a shower cubicle and much less likely to leak.0 -
Redlady our plumber has done two bathrooms for my parents, including tiling, and installed our entire central heating system, so I'm as confident of him as you can be. Good advice, though, thanks.
suziesue trying to cater for all the generations, is the answer. MIL and my own mother cannot get their legs over the bath to get into the shower (MIL is 80). The bath is for babies and small people, who tend not to like water on their heads! Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
OK, plan is not going smoothly. Rang plumber and he has had a stroke and moved away. Feel very sorry and not just because he is a good plumber, he is a really nice guy as well who enjoyed his work.
Plan B, have rung some other local plumbers who are good, but not cheap. They are coming to quote at the end of the month. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
I've had a bath over shower and now have a free standing one and would never go back.
Getting in and out of a bath is an accident waiting to happen at times and also the bath itself can be slippy. Our free standing shower is 4 inches off the floor, so it's far better for anyone who's a little less nimble or carrying a few additional pounds - not me of course, my body is a temple!
A properly fitted shower won't leak. Ours hasn't. However, we had lots of problems with water finding it's way behind the bath when it was a shower bath. It damaged the floor which I ended up having to replace with new ply. We had no idea how bad it was until the bath was removed completely.
The shower has been in nearly two years and when I did my extension recently I had to access the ceiling below it and it's not let a drop of water through.0 -
Oh, also consider Toolstation for various items. I don't thing they do full bathroom suites, but they are far cheaper for materials and accessories than the main DIY stores and delivery is free over £10.00.
I've had loads of things delivered whilst doing a bathroom and then extension and they are as cheap as chips.0 -

There was previously a shower over our existing bath but it did just that and leaked through the ceiling. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -

Do you know why? Was it the sealant between the bath and the wall?0 -
Yes, suzie, it was the sealant. Put in by someone in the village with a rep as a bodger.
Measured it and its 2.2m by 2m. The 2.2 m sides - one has a heated towel rail which acts as a heat sink for the AGA so I can't get rid of it, and the opposite side has a big ish sash window in. The 2m sides, one is clear and the other has the door in it.Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
I found an on-line bathroom planner that let you put in the dimensions and the doors / windows and then select a sink and bath that is to scale, so you can see what it possible.
That's how I re-arranged mine and decided to move the door to make it work.
I am not familiar with the Aga situation, but I would imagine the towel rail could still be moved to the wall space of choice?0 -
Could you post a link, please, tucker?
I have found a corner bath and a quadrant shower enclosure which would fit 0.9 and 0.8 m along the 2m wall. It would mean a tight squeeze and a tiny basin, though. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0
