My lot are eating Pet at Home meaty chunks in gravy at the moment - and will be for the next 4 or five months or so....... they were on special offer, plus 10% off and free delivery, so I stocked up
They have been eating it for about 6 weeks and are all holding their weight, have good coats and their breath is not as pongy as it was on Whiskas. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -
Thanks everyone. Its been interesting reading!
As I said in my OP I asked the question after reading the can saying chicken flavour which started me wondering, also reading the list of ingred's with the 4% meat content!
I'm off to pets at home for the purely range and see if that agrees with their stomachs.
I've just fed the dog and left the room, on my return I saw the dog watching one of the cats (Nigel) tucking in to his dinner!
Maybe I should try dog food! :rotfl:But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more0 -
raw is cheap & good: search posts on this site (offal from the butchers is a good place to start).
cats nutritional requirements will not be met by feeding dog food.0 -
Felix pouches with jelly seem to contain the same stuff as the tins. The cats can`t tell the diference anyway.
Tins work out about half the price/100g. It is easy to give them a bit more though!

I know in theory the food is the same in tins and pouches but my cats know and will not eat tinned food. unless of course it is the expensive little gourmet tins :cool:rita-rabbit wrote: »Felix is neither really cheap nor `good' = v little meat content!
I am still trying to wean my 2 off whiskas/felix but i think they are more stubborn than me!! i might give purely another go though0 -
feline fayre can be bought at morrisons/asda, and the black packages are complete. i think they are about 44p each? the cheaper, light blue ones arent complete though... so make sure to check.
Thanks to this thread, I brought some of this for the first time today (light blue ones). I got a pack of eight pouches for 99p and four big cans for 30p each. This was in Asda. My two cats love it (if they didn't, it would've gone to my Mum's two cats, but they're not going to get a look in now!)0 -

I got this when it was on offer aswell, I got it in jelly and in gravy and neither of mine would touch any of it.
I had to give it away in the end, false economy, pleased yours like it though.:)0 -
I tried the purely from Pets at Home range and the cats won't eat it!
I think its because its like a pate, they like the chunks in jelly.
So, I've junk food cats! Back to the whiskas!
Have any of the other high meat brands unlike a pate? If they are please let me know and I'll try those. But if ever I stray from the path I follow
