I too needed to call on the rspca when involving very neglected animals. They didnt want to know and so after years of giving every month by direct debit i stopped it. They wont get anymore of my money.

Yet a local animal sanctuary was very helpful and provided food and bedding etc. So whenever i see a charity box for them or any other local places i give money.

To be honest i didnt want to come back and read this thread as i read it yesterday and had been wondering how the bird was and didnt want to come back and read something sad. I wonder how it is.

Well done if thats the right way to put it, for being able to put the owl out of its misery, must have been a hard thing to do.

hello all, thank you for you thoughts (though some comments surprise and sadden!)

:( Unfortunately, the blackbird had died. I have a suspicion that he might have been shot with an air rifle.

    Ahh poor birdie :(

At least he had a friend in his last hours who gave him shelter and security - he wasn't just left in the road, which would have been terrible for him. Well done for trying your best.
