Waive top up requirement on 3 phone [CPW]

Hi,
My Dad needs a new phone. He is currently in a 18 month contract (£15/300 Texts OR Minutes) and there is a phone at Carphone Warehouse that is cheap and adequate for his needs (linky)
Can you waive the top up as he already is on 3 and the credit is not needed?

No way of doing it sorry. When you have a contract you've either benefitted by having a free handset or in the case of a sim only deal, you've had the mins/msgs cheaper. Pay as you go phones are subsidised by the network, so you need to top up to benefit from the subsidy.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).
