A&L Direct ISA

I've begun the process of moving away from Santander (ne! A&L) and will shortly be closing my Premier Direct Current Account. Does anyone know what happens with regards to my ISA as it is linked to the current account?

Will they even allow me to close the account because of the ISA? I've got no intention of paying them a £5 underfunding fee each month through to April 2011.

I'm not sure how the A&L Direct ISA is linked to your current account, or why it shuld be. So I don;t see why you should have any problem just closing the premier current account and wait for the bonus period on the ISA to end then transfer it elsewhere.

The Direct ISA can only be funded through the Premier Direct Current Account. If I want to move money from the Joint accout I would have to move the money to my sole account first then move it into the ISA.

I guess that's why it's called the Direct ISA.

You should be able to get your Premier Direct current account changed to a more basic one that has no under-funding fee, allowing you to still operate your ISA through it. Just give them a call.
