Knowsley Safari Park vs Chester Zoo/Liverpool

Hi
We have booked a travelodge in August and are going to spend a day at either Knowsley Safari Park or Chester Zoo. Then the following day in around Liverpool, DH has been quite a bit over the years to the university but not done any tourist stuff.
We dont know which to go to though the zoo or the safari park on the first day. It works out a bit cheaper to go to Chester Zoo, 2 adults, 3 kids 14, 10, 6.
Anyone been to both and which would you recommend?
Any ideas on whats worth a visit to go and see in Liverpool.
Any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks threebabes

They are both good but Chester Zoo is better. Last time we went a fair bit was closed off but still took ages to get round. Knowsley has a fairground which is payg so will add a bit to the bill with 3 kids.0

Chester Zoo is the better choice, you can spend the whole day there and there are so many interesting things to see and do!0

I'm definitely in the Chester Zoo camp (slightly biased as I'm a member and I'm getting married there!). There's a nice play area at the zoo (handily next to one of the restaurants) which your kids will love, and several child-centred activities - things to look out for, interactive gadgets. Also there are a few pay extra bits that aren't extortionate - the monorail, boat trip, crazy golf
In Liverpool the Yellow Duckmarine is worth a trip on, though it isn't that cheap - it's an amphibious bus-that-becomes-a-boat. Starts as a bus at the Albert Dock, does a trip round the city, then slides down into the dock itself for another water tour. This is an old thread but maybe some of the tips in here are still valid?

weve done both recently and id say hands down Chester ZooMad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -
Chester zoo is slightly dearer to get in but works out better value overall - lots more to see and do, and with the safari park, you drive round it in about an hour then you pretty much either leave or stump up an extra £9 per kid for the fairground wristbands!! Outrageous!
As for Liverpool - lots of stuff for visitors to do, but you won't fit it all in one day so a few ideas include:
The big wheel down by the waterfront
The Docks
Maritime Museum
World Museum Liverpool
Walker Art Gallery
Tate Liverpool (free to get in, but extra charges for special exhibitions)
Beatles Story (quite dear to get in but by all accounts worth it, I've never been)
Visit to Liverpool FC or Everton FC ground (usually need to book these in advance)0 -
I agree with the Chester Zoo votes.
It's a lovely day out. The food is quite expensive so I'd recommend that you pack a picnic if you can.
Hope you have a lovely day.0
