The mainland Europeans and Aussies went for DAB+ and this format is much more resistant to drop-out and has a better range.

I have 1 DAB radio but will never be buying another until DAB+ becomes a reality in the UK.

Just for clarity, it is only R4 which is affected although I listen to all sorts. I just don't understand why this began 2 days ago.

Does anyone know if Radio 4 is on its own frequency? If its multiplexed with other BBC stations, (I think all BBC national like radio1,2,3,4,5 go out on channel 12b) and if they are fine, then surely this has to be a more complex problem with either the media source (quite unlikely, people would know) or the radio itself, like some sort of timing/phasing issue with MUXed data. Maybe I'm going off on one here, but it just seems strange to me.
I don't supppose you have another dab radio handy or prehaps borrow a neighbours to see what happens, although ideally you'd want an identical radio.
Also you could try driving out to another area and retuning your radio. if you get the same problem then, you'll have a bit more evidence to blame your radio.

Finally, I don't suppose there is anyway of upgrading the firmware of your radio? You can with some good ones, maybe that would help, but now i'm clutching at straws.

Really Finally, and I say this to everyone with Digital TV/radio issues, do you have a Cordless phone/base station or similar interfering kit nearby that you maybe recently purchased/moved closer to your radio etc if you do, switch it off and see what happens

Thankyou everybody - switched it on while doing brekkie in kitchen a couple of hours ago and it was fine. Experimented by changing stations and R4 returned when required sans problème. [Just went and tried again to confirm this - tout va bien.] With regard to much of the discussion above, I understand little. If I need to refer back in the future, I have all your wise advice - thankyou again.

Since BBC radio went over to WMA only streams this spring, I have been unable to get any sort of reliable reception on iPod Touch (tried Fstream, Reciva and Wunderradio apps). I did manage to send a message on the forum Contact Us but got the standard fob-off. BBC is in denial over this one - you get a canned response showing that they don't want to hear the problem.
