Since Friday, my small Sony DAB radio has stopped giving R4.
It goes for a second or so, then 'NO DSL' msg comes up.
Can't find anything about this in instructions, but have pressed the tiny Re-set place, inside and under the battery lid[hadn't even seen it before].having read through the manual. Sometimes it does the trick, mostly not.
Having to do Full Scanning every time in the hope of retrieving signal is annoying.
There's no change in site/usage - any idea what is going on please?

Also, is there no way of my receiving French and Irish LW stations as previously with non-DAB radio?
Thankyou for any help.

Have you moved it to different parts of the house to see if reception improves?
And no you wont get the LW stations you mention0 -
If the stations that previously broadcast on LW now broadcast on DAB, you may have a chance of picking them up IF they broadcast from a transmitter close to you - but that's unlikely to happen for a foreign station. You may find they are broadcasting an internet feed, and you can pick them up via 'internet radio'....
Otherwise, if you want these stations, you'll have to retain, bring out of storage, or buy an LW radio.
As regards the problem you're having - you may not have moved the radio, but are there external factors that may affect it where you have it sited? Trees that were bare in winter, but are now in full leaf? These play havoc with our digital TV signal.......
What's between you and the transmitter? BBC used to have links to transmitter info on their website......0 -
Here is the BBC transmitter info http://www.bbc.co.uk/reception/transmitters/radio/digital_radio.shtml

Hello all and thankyou-
It has just started out of the blue. I use it in exactly the same places/manner, as for last 2[nearly]years.
Just tried again, leaving it on R4. Little pip of sound, then Frequency display and nothing.
Full Scanning then NO ENSEMBLE.
Took back off, pressed reset, full scan and now going again.
If I go to another station and back to R4, it goes off again.
Why is this happening?
I regularly use radio outside and plug it in extension lead if gardening. outdoors etc. - fine for Wimbledon etc. Bringing it back in to normal kitchen plug was always fine before, too.
Have used it in car, battery powered, if there's sth on R7 or 5Live Xtra I'd otherwise miss.
Absolutely no probs of any kind till 2 days ago.

Yes, had guessed I'll have to have 2 radio types around for France and Ireland and other interesting bits.

I'm surprised only one station is being affected, don't they get multiplexed like Digital tv? Thoughts anyone?0 -
I've never been convinced by the DAB argument. I live within 7 miles and in clear line of sight of the nearest transmitter and even so unless the radio was on the window sill in just the right position and left undisturbed the signal would regularly drop out - bearing in mind that the only thing between the transmitter and the radio was air and a single sheet of glass. If I took the radio to the kitchen then there was no signal at all and using it upstairs required constant retuning to get anything and the signal would still drop out for no apparent reason. We suffered this for several months before returning it - and getting our money back - and have stuck very happily with analogue radios since relishing the wavering signals on MW and LW at night. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
