best phone insurance for the iphone 4

Hi there
What insurance do you have as a council tenant? I'm not aware of them offering anything - all they do is cover their own property so nothing of yours would be insured.
You need to get a quote for "Contents Insurance" and make sure you include "Away From Home" or "Personal Possessions" cover (same thing but different names). Use the Home Insurance guide on this site (clicky).
Hope this helps. In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -
So i can just phone up home insurance and add the iphone 4 onto that for away from home cover? Do i say its worth 500 to replace?

Hi Mantamark
Give your insurers a call and ask them whether the away from home cover would include your iPhone and if there are any exclusions or restrictions you should be aware of. If they confirm it's all ok, get the name of the person you spoke to (in some cases, the staff only give their first name. If they won't give you their surname, as for the name of their team leader) and note the time & date you called along with the number you called from. This way, if there is any dispute in the future over cover you can say "I spoke to Fred in Bill's team on 16 July 2010 at 11:23 and they said I was covered".
If they say you need to specify the phone (or if you just want the peace of mind to know that it's specified) ask them to confirm:
The annual cost
The additional premium to your next renewal date
Any admin fees
The admin fees are a one-off charge for any changes made to your policy so if there is anything else you want to do (specify a camera, add a laptop, name someone else on the policy) do it all at the same time so there is only one admin fee charged. They are usually around £20 to £25. What you are interested in is the annual cost which should be hardly anything. In the beginning, the universe was created. looking for a best phone cover
my home cover dont cover mobiles as im a council tenant
thanks
Use the usual suspects - gocompare, moneysupermarket etc - to get Contents Only quotes and make sure they cover personal possessions away from the house. I'm a private tenant and have had no problem getting this. Personally, I find Privilege's "Platinum" cover excellent. Not only do I get "away from home" cover but also worldwide travel insurance and also free access to my credit report on Experian (normally about £8 a month, I think).
Edit: The only thing these companies won't cover is any misuse of the phone by someone who steals it, so you'd have to pay any charges they ran up.If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button
