Hello, I will be going into year ten next year and I will be doing work experience. I am wondering if anyone could tell me what company's let you do work experience and if you could post your tales of work experience.
Thanks:j

It depends what you want to do!

First advice is to arrange your own work experience, otherwise you'll be in the local shops ect where it would be rather boring!

I did my work experience with London Underground. I got it organised through a friend my mom knew who worked for them. I really enjoyed it, spending time with different departments, but best was being in the front with the driver :D

First find out what you want to do. Then see if you know any contacts who work in a business like that, or ask parents if they know anyone, ask neighbours ect :D

Its very unlikely that if you just write an e-mail to a random company, that they will give you some work exp.

Another suggestion is working at a pool. If you are sporty type and looking to get a part time job. I'd def recomend doing that. As a lifeguard, I've worked with lots of work experience people, and some have done a really good job and been offered part time work when they become 16 and qualifed.
"No likey no need to hit thanks button!":p
However its always nice to be thanked if you feel mine and other people's posts here offer great advice:D So hit the button if you likey:rotfl:

First of all, what do you like doing?

    physical work, building gardening etc.

    Desk job, office,

Decide and then ring around different companies,
initiative goes down very well with prospective employers, trainers.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

You would have to ring and ask them. My advice would be to think ahead and not necessarily choose somewhere based on what you might do in the future, but perhaps something that you could do part time at college to get some extra money.

If you are interested in law you may be able to volunteer at your local magistrates court. From the link here it seems they do work experience for students so you may be lucky:

At your age my son had a great work experience placement at the Institute of Chartered Accountants, who took it very seriously and gave placements for a couple of days in each of the departments. He was even paid £40 at the end and had a great time at a university careers fair handing out publicity materials.
    somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's

A couple of people did work experience at a Bank and were both able to get temporary jobs there while in sixth form

More often than not the school you are attending will already have an established list of companies/employers that have/are prepared to take on work experience students.
