  • Trying to go to the link via your dongle will be fruitless.

In essence you are sending a request to VM to register your dongle rather than the modem (when you are using the dongle).

It is similar to driving to a car mechanic in your friend's car and asking them to check the oil levels, on the car that you left at home.

Post back once you have tried to connect directly to the modem.

VM have let you down (by neglecting to get back to you) but at the moment it looks as though your problem might be a very minor one (from a technical perspective).

I hate when this kinda thing happens, especially when i praise VM highly as I've had very few problems with them. And I've been with them since way back in the days of NTHell.

Is it the modem or the router that the lights are flashing on?

Maybe a list of the lights that are on solid and flashing on the modem would give people an idea of what to suggest to help you :)

its the green ready light on the modem, the router is still boxed and i was told not to use it until the modem and the fault at thier end had been resolved. i have tried conecting the laptop to the modem through ethernet cable and tried to register that way but as i have no internet connection at all it just comes up as cant display the page.

  • Hi, I have never needed to register my modem.

I had incorrectly assumed that the address was not a real internet address but internal. Sorry

You could try to phone the following

08009539500 - it is the registration number, whilst they might not be able to do it for you, the impression is that they are more helpful.

I would also still recommend that you go to

    http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/General-broadband-questions/bd-p/General

    And relay your story there.

    Good luck
