  • I have a game that can run this exploit (Mech Assault) and a memory card with exploit for sale. Very easy to do. If anyone is interested then PM me. I used mine to do my xbox and tbh I very rarely play games I use mine as a media centre as XBMC is one brilliant piece of kit.
  • It's easier to use a gamesave exploit than hotswapping on the PC, but the PC way is easy enough too.

Splinter Cell (one of the exploitable games) is £1.97 in gamestation, and the Exploder is £0.97 in dixons, so for under £3 you are almost set - you'll just need a memcard (you don't need it permanently so if you can borrow one all the better).

http://www.biline.ca/xbox_ndure.htm is an ok guide for doing it. Any version of splinter cell will work (original or classics).

Can you use the official MCE Extender on this?
Because someone told me the Extender only works on the US versions?

Thanks totoriko - in your opinion would I be better of forking for the 360 or are the live games 'almost as good' on the xbox?

At risk of going back to the original topic ;) It's difficult to say which is better because it depends what you want. A 360 can play many of the original xbox games which have Live (online) capability, but notably not Project Gotham Racing 1 or 2 - because they want you to play the 360 designed PGR3.

But there's still plenty of life in the original xbox. IMHO there are relatively few really good 360 only titles out there that can be played on Live, probably Ghost Recon, Battlefield and PGR3 are the main players currently, whereas there are plenty more on the original xbox that can be taken online and have a lot of people playing still. My personal favourite is Battlefront 2, ace if you're a fan of Star Wars, but there's also Pro Evo Soccer 5, PGR2, Far Cry and of course the Halo games.

It's a case of "you pays your money...". If you want a console for the next few years, then go 360, but if you want a bit of a laugh for a lot less money, bearing in mind it'll probably be deemed obsolete in a couple of years, you could do a lot worse than a £70 xbox.

Bear in mind though that you have to pay for a Live subscription, generally.

PS thanx to all other posters who have discussed softmodding. My xbox is getting on now, so it may well be the thing for me to do while I wait for the inevitable 360 price drops.
