BTOpenzone is free but uses data allowance.
It would be worth checking if there are any conditions attached to using it.

BTopenzone has never and will never be free. It is paid for by your mobile network and hence the limited data allowance you get.

When a hotel or airport states they offer free Wifi then this means free and not paid for by neither yourself nor your mobile operator.

This is where we disagree............ You made it sound like all WiFi requiring a password (secure) comes out of your data allowance and this is obviously wrong. This is only the case for your 'Free' BTopenzone as it is really not truly free but paid for through your data allowance and this is where the confusion is.

If you're arguing that BTOpenzone is chargeable because my carrier pays for it and I'm limited on mt data, then I could argue that hotels aren't free either because those renting rooms are paying for it.

I am glad that you finally agree that as the OP will be paying the rent in a hotel that includes free WiFi, then they will be receiving their internet via that WiFi for 'FREE' part of that package and that they won't need to worry about any extra charges.:cool:

When using a free wifi abroad then it's free and does not use up any data allowance provided by mobile carrier.

Earlier this year we went overseas, before which I rang O2 (iPhone) and got great advice about switching off the 3G network (which would have been horrendously expensive) and using any available wifi - airport lounges were especially good with a free service for customers. Even used it at Federation Square in Melbourne, an outdoor venue with free wifi.

Didn't affect the data allowance.

and in Post #7 you stated and I quote:

Which is utterly untrue unless it is a chargeable WiFi point. Just stop digging mate.:D

To clarify
Connecting to a BTopenzone wifi WILL use your data allowance.
As I stated in post 18
"I totally understand that connecting to a network at home or any unsecured network will incur no charges.......I've already stated that several times." - meaning that if you hook up to a wifi network other than btopenzone (whether free or chargeable) your phone bill will not increase, nor will you have data allowance used up.

Happy with that now??
I've understood that from post number 1!!
