    I use
    Avira
    Malwarebytes
    [STRIKE]SUPERAntiSpyware[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Spybot[/STRIKE]
    CCleaner
    Use Vista's firewall, behind my router
    [STRIKE]also have Windows Defender[/STRIKE]

    This will probably be sufficient.

    My setup is:
    * A router using NAT
    * Windows
    * No firewall
    * No anti-virus
    * No anti-malware
    * No Internet Explorer

    I'm really not sure what people do to ream their PCs so often.

    Microsoft Security Essentials (nearly the best of all AV in Virus Bulletin monthly tests.

    Then run on demand:
    Malwarebytes.
    CCleaner.

    The other key piece for securing your PC not mentioned so far is making sure autoupdate is on for security patches as and when Microsoft publish the latest security vulnerabilities identified and fix them (which typically the virus writers are exploiting a few days afterwards

    cybergibbons seems to have leant the other way adopting the 'head in the sand' approach to PC security....

    I run my netbook with that setup, if you avoid IE and use some common sense about downloading/running random programs from the internet, you can pretty much dispense with regular anti-virus/anti-spyware protection. Unfortunately, most people don't have common sense, the sort of people who click on ad banners saying "YOUR COMPUTER IS INFECTED, CLICK HERE FOR A FREE SCAN!!!111"

    So would you guys recommend that the OP uses Windows Firewall instead of ZA?:cool:

    I'd recommend using almost anything, including nothing at all, instead of ZA.
