Thats got to be Bobbi Brown right?- thats their trademark eyeliner application instructions! Works very well though!

It may have been Bobbi Brown, I can't remember. Works a treat for me and looks much more natural than a solid line.

I'd like to find a very dark brown liquid eyeliner, as an alternative to black. Anyone know of any?

The YSL one isn't felt (I can't do a good job with those either) it's more of a very thin brush with actual bristles, I believe they refer to it as a calligraphy style pen. They do it in a really lovely brown as well as black.

The one I find easiest to use and it is fairly cheap is the bourjois liquid liner. They do it in dark brown and it lasts all day.

I like liquid eyeliner as it does stay on more than pencil, though I like the effect of pencil too but always end up with panda eyes. I use the No7 liquid eyeliner in black and can seem to just draw a line OK but then I have been using it for a while now so have got used to it.

Do you put the liquid under your eyes too? I have tried recently dabbing some on a cotton bud to smudge under my eyes and it seems to look OK.

I am hopeless with liquid liner, but I have just bought a pencil liner by Clinique called Quick Liner and I love it.It is very easy to apply and hasn't smudged at all, even in this hot weather. It comes in lots of lovely shades too.

The problem with applying a really dark eyeliner under your eyes is that unless your application technique is flawless and you have absolutely no eye bags (or are good enough at concealing them so they don't show at all), it can really enhance the darkness and make you look shattered. Same with mascara under the eyes; so tread carefully :) If you want to use something under the eyes then I'd suggest using something that doesn't bring out the blue in eye bags, things like bronzes and lighter, shimmering shades. If you're really keen to use a black or anything blue toned under the eyes then you can offset it with a white shimmer on the inner corners. Blend well though as you can look a bit like an alien if you don't blend it properly!

I have the Clinique quick liner as my pencil one and it is good, expensive but it does last a fair while.

It's just practice. And I will second what others have said about gel eyeliner being the easiest to apply. I used to avoid eyeliner before, as even when i splashed out on a chanel eyeliner pencil, I still found it smudged (ggrrr). i now have a mac gel eyeliner and love it :)

You could try Bobbi Brown or Mac who both sell a variety of shades of their gel eyeliners, try the stores rather then the websites if you can as you can try out the colours there.

Collection 2000 have loads of eyeliners in different colours, which are easy to apply (although the brush is quite thin) and last for hours. At only £2.99 they're not going to break the bank if you can't get on with them.
