Sat 10th/Sun 11th July - What small DFW things have you done this weekend???!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important
:D
Hi everyone
How are we all?
I am struggling big time this month
Not been at home this week (housesitting for the inlaws) and it's really thrown me. Have been getting the bus to work every day and not taken lunch every day so just feeling a bit out of kilter.Feel like I've been on a bit of a holiday, ordering take aways and trips out to the nice beer garden
Plus, I've not been able to post every day or catch up with the thread so just feel out of sorts
See, further proof that the small things keep you on track!
Anyway, now I need to assess the damage and get back on with it. As far as I know I have about £50 payday is a fortnight away...I reckon that's doable.
Have managed to get some good wedding bargains recently so the budget for that is looking good! Booked our airport hotel via super break, got 15% discount code and booked a mystery hotel (even though we knew by the description it was the one we wanted
). £50 saving
Today list:
- washing round the inlaws
- update spending diary
- wedding planning and maybe a bit of wedding spending
- put some coins in the jar when I get back home :A
- staying in with some wine we got for free
- go to the market - and quite excited
- washing duvet myself - treading on it like grapes in the bath and then it's going out on the line
£13 saving
- helped some peeps out with their pension woes (voluntary job I do) :A
Have lovely weekends everyone!
Hope it's gorgeous where you are!
 to all the new posters (and lurkers who we are always hoping to convert
)
:grouphug: to everyone else who I haven't 'spoken to' this past week.

Morning All
Thanks La Escocesa for starting the thread nice and early
We're on our way out today to go off road driving, a real treat for Popeye and quite cheap. Especially as the whole group will have a shared Braai at lunchtime so saving by not going to a restaurant. (Apparently one gets hungry doing this
)
When we get back I will (this weekend):
do some washing and line dry
get DD to scan my vaccination certificate and e-mail it to me so I don't have to have them again - and pay again
carry on knitting and unpicking
I'm going to take cuttings from some of the plants at the verges on the estate for our garden
Have a great day everyone :A0 -
carry on knitting and unpicking

I haven't knitted anything since I had to unpick loads last year! Maybe this is about time to get back into it... Hmm. What are your current projects? Do you knit for yourself or for presents? One of my main 'problems' with knitting pressies is that wool is so expensive! By the time I've knitted someone a scarf in nice wool I could've bought them 5...0 -
Mornin La E, Lotte & Olive :wave:gosh I felt like someone had hit me in the head with a sledge hammer today - so tired!
Yay its the weekend :j I intend to do as minimal chores as is possible (am really tired of the scrimping and saving, 1 more month is my mantra but it is becoming tired now) and we're off to a festival today :jexpensive but should restore my soul
I nearly got fish & chips take away last night, but at the last minute changed my mind. Thank god! Whats the point of scrimping throughout the week if we're going to go and blow £15 at the weekend?

No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -
Hi All - Happy weekend everyone :j
Off to a wedding today but shouldn't be too expensive. In our home town so will drive, bought present few weeks ago and as DH is working and can't get time off for service, I'll come home in between service and reception to pick him up and we'll eat before we go back so not too tempted by buffet. Both trying to be good weight wise too.
Also I have/will:
Managed a NSD yesterday, up to 4 already in July :T
Keep an eye on ebay lots ending tomorrow night
Shopping yesterday stuck to list and used MOC and got some reduced items as I went late
Lunch from stores, tea in slow cooker
washing drying outside
Cleaned inside of car
Check bank and quidco (find out why one of my purchases have been declined!)
Done internet food shop for next week as Mr S sent me a MOC for a £50 spend
Free nappy sample from Mr T to try and then do a survey for.
Think that's about it, enjoy your weekend everyone x0 -
Off on hols in half an hour - see you in a week!:j:j:j0

Afternoon all. It's a beautiful day here again so hoping to get out in the garden in a while - been busy already.
So far I have:- run dishwasher overnight on cheap-rate electricity and used economy programme too!
- run washing-machine overnight and hung outside to dry
- used earnings from eggs to buy chicken food and used discount card too
- been to Ikea with DD and managed to spend just £6.80

- checked banking
- clean out chicken house and run in exchange for some eggs
- check for surveys
- possibly get down to the allotment to water and pick any remaining strawberries for jam/wine
- try to get some housework & gardenng done as not here tomorrow
Have a great weekend!Making magic with fabricLight travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.0 -

I'm knitting presents, I haven't knitted for years so I've started with small stuff, and I bought my wool from the pound shop when they unexpectedly had a good range.
I get my patterns from knitty.com and ravelry.com so those are free. :money:
So far I've knitted 2 scarves and a bag for the TomTom. Currently I'm knitting a shrug, but because the chevron pattern shows every error I seem to unpick 20% of what I knit :rotfl:
It is a winter occupation for me however, and I can't imagine that I'll feel like doing it in November when it is hot here
