No public transports where I live so I use a car.
Never used a car till we moved here :-(
What if it rains? or feel sweaty? Can't work next to people if your dripping wet

I do 20 miles each way on the days I do cycle in so it's not impossible, but I wouldn't/couldn't do it every day. I was going to cycle in 3 times in one week but found I could hardly get up the last climb before home on day two's return journey. I also have the luxury of knowing that I could get back home by public transport if I was desperate.
What if it rains? I suppose you get wet
What if I get sweaty? Maybe this is too much information for some but I cycle in wearing cycling gear and carrying my clothes for the day and a washbag. A quick once over with a facecloth and no-one's the wiser. Or maybe they're just to polite to complain?
Last thought: a friend of mine used to take his bike to work by car one day, leave it there and drive home as usual. The following day he would get a lift in and cycle home. Does anyone at work live nearby?Fiscal drag, that's my problem. Too many people dragging on my fiscals.0 -

peech are you getting cycle cover/insurance, i read here that you have it on your home insurance, we havent as it doesnt cover things taken out of the house ie a bike so i have just been on cyclegaard insurace, and it covers you in an accident too and its only £3.58 for me - £38.00 a year :j and cause i am doing it through quidco i get £5 back, just a thought0

I haven't checked the policy yet, but knowing my dad's tightness ours probably doesn't cover it either! I'll have a look on Quidco now...

hi peech, yes i went for road care 1millionthere is a bit in the delcaration about locks you have to have one from there list
but there are loads to choose from, i will take the list with me when i service my bike, or i will get one at halfords
edit: i just think its better to be safe than sorry, i think i did the lesiure one, that had commuting in it, i added roadcare near the end of the quote0 -
peech just to say, i am reading the manual thing you can download and print and its says that you bike will not be covered unless you have one of the approved locks fitted and you have both keys and the recipet  just to warn you to at least read the booklet even if its just online :rolleyes:0

Yeah, I had a little read through the policy. Why on earth do you need the receipt for the lock though?! OddnessDFW Nerd #104 I :heartpuls my Kitten

maybe they need it as proof if its stolen that the lock you used on it was an approved one, but i would use more than one lock on it anyway

Sorry to resurrect this thread...but I just wondered how everyone's getting on with their cycling?
I commuted to work and back for the first time today but I need to adjust my route, central London roads can be hairy!0
